What This Is

This site provides plain-English marketing notes for small business owners, organized by city, state, and industry. Every page is built from real Census business statistics and local market data. The goal is to give owners clearer marketing judgment before they spend money or hire anyone.

How It Works

We combine Census County Business Patterns data with geographic information to generate market-specific notes for 875 U.S. cities across 30 industries. Seasonal timing, competitive density, and practical priorities are all derived from real data, not generic advice.

What This Is Not

This is not a marketing agency. We don't sell services, run ads for you, or manage your social media. There are no gated downloads, no email-required content, and no upsells. Everything on this site is free.

Data Sources

City data from GeoNames (CC-BY 4.0). Business statistics from the US Census Bureau County Business Patterns (public domain). All data is processed and presented as-is with pro-rated estimates where county-level data is adapted to city level. City photos come from Wikimedia Commons and are credited on each page.

Editorial Standards

Statistics only appear when they come from a named public source, such as the Census data behind every city page. Advice numbers, like budget ranges or how often to post, are rules of thumb, and the guides say so. Claims we can't source are taken out rather than left in.

Guides and industry pages show the date they were last updated. If you spot something wrong or out of date, tell us and we'll fix it.

One useful marketing note a week.
